Detail Talent is recruiting on behalf of a leading engineering consultancy to appoint a Senior Contract Specialist for a long-term Public Works Authority (Ashghal) assignment in Qatar. This executive position is tailored for a seasoned commercial expert residing in Qatar who possesses extensive prior experience navigating Ashghal contract frameworks and consultancy oversight.

The core responsibilities of this position center on providing expert commercial, contractual, and claim management guidance across a portfolio of Ashghal public works projects. Daily duties require reviewing contractor claims, evaluating extension of time requests, drafting formal contractual correspondence, and negotiating variation orders in accordance with Ashghal standard conditions of contract. The Senior Contract Specialist will advise client leadership on contractual risks, oversee contractor commercial performance, manage dispute avoidance procedures, audit tender documentation, and ensure all contract administration practices align strictly with Qatari public sector procurement laws.

Candidates applying for this role must demonstrate over 20 years of post-qualification experience in contract administration, commercial management, or quantity surveying within the construction and civil infrastructure industry. A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Law, Civil Engineering, or a related field is mandatory. Prior experience working directly on Ashghal projects within a consultancy firm environment is strictly required. Applicants must currently reside in Qatar with a valid QID to qualify for selection and possess exceptional command of FIDIC forms of contract and Qatari construction law.
