Job Overview: Diyafah International School is hiring a committed and strategic EAL Coordinator to support students whose first language is not English. Based in Abu Dhabi, UAE, the role requires expertise in ESL instruction, curriculum planning, and team collaboration within the IGCSE/British Curriculum framework. This is an exciting opportunity for experienced educators to make a significant impact on language development and academic success across the school.

Core Responsibilities: The EAL Coordinator will develop and implement tailored English support strategies, identify EAL learners' needs through diagnostic tools, and monitor progress. Responsibilities also include guiding classroom teachers in EAL-sensitive instruction, modifying curriculum as needed, and offering individualized or group interventions to support language acquisition and academic development.

Instructional & Strategic Role: You will take the lead on EAL curriculum planning, assessment development, and ensure that the EAL program aligns with international standards and school goals. Collaboration with other academic staff is essential to integrate language support into mainstream lessons and to ensure all students receive equal learning opportunities.

Student & Staff Support: The successful candidate will also work closely with students and parents to create inclusive support plans and provide regular updates. You will act as the main point of contact for all EAL-related matters and support professional development by training teachers on differentiation, inclusive practices, and language scaffolding techniques.

Leadership & Coordination: As a coordinator-level professional, you will lead a small team of support staff and collaborate with department heads to evaluate and enhance EAL effectiveness across grade levels. Your leadership will help shape the school’s inclusive approach to linguistic and cultural diversity.

Ideal Candidate Profile: Candidates must have a Bachelor’s degree in English, ESL, or Education along with a teaching qualification (PGCE, B.Ed., or equivalent). A minimum of 2 years' experience in a British/IGCSE curriculum setting is required. Preferred applicants will be native English speakers with strong team coordination, strategic thinking, and EAL curriculum expertise.
