Job Overview: Al Maaref American School, a leading educational institution in the UAE, is looking for a Cashier / Junior Accountant to join its finance department. The ideal candidate will have a strong accounting background and the ability to manage daily financial operations efficiently. Financial Operations & Cash Handling: The selected candidate will be responsible for managing the school’s cash transactions, processing payments, issuing receipts, and reconciling daily balances. The role demands strong attention to detail to ensure the accuracy of all financial dealings and compliance with the school’s financial procedures. Experience handling large volumes of cash and maintaining detailed transaction records is essential.
Accounting & Reporting Duties: The Junior Accountant will assist in recording and processing financial transactions, managing accounts payable and receivable, and supporting monthly financial reconciliations. The candidate will also prepare daily financial summaries and assist in generating periodic reports to support the Finance Manager in decision-making and budget monitoring.
Experience in Educational Institutions: Preference will be given to candidates with prior experience in schools or educational organizations. Understanding school fee structures, student billing, and payment cycles will be an advantage. The candidate will help ensure smooth coordination between the finance and administration departments, maintaining transparency in financial processes.
Technical Proficiency & Language Skills: The ideal applicant must be proficient in accounting software and Microsoft Excel, with a strong grasp of accounting principles. Fluency in both Arabic and English (spoken and written) is mandatory to communicate effectively with parents, staff, and vendors. The ability to handle queries with professionalism and courtesy is highly valued.
Teamwork & Work Ethics: The Cashier / Junior Accountant will work closely with the finance team and other school departments to maintain financial efficiency. The role requires honesty, confidentiality, and commitment to maintaining the integrity of financial data. The successful candidate will also demonstrate adaptability and a proactive approach to solving problems within the finance function.
