Job Description

Role Overview – Danat Al Emarat Hospital is hiring a Senior Nurse for a full-time, on-site role based in Abu Dhabi, UAE. This position is ideal for experienced registered nurses with strong clinical expertise, leadership capabilities, and the ability to deliver exceptional patient care, mentor nursing teams, coordinate clinical operations, and ensure high-quality nursing practice within a modern, patient-centered hospital environment.

Patient Care and Clinical Nursing – You will provide comprehensive patient care and clinical nursing by conducting patient assessments, developing individualized care plans, implementing nursing interventions, monitoring patient conditions, evaluating treatment responses, providing bedside care, ensuring patient comfort and safety, and delivering evidence-based, patient-centered nursing care across the patient journey.

Clinical Assessment and Care Planning – You will conduct clinical assessments and develop care plans by performing comprehensive health assessments, identifying patient needs, establishing nursing diagnoses, setting care priorities, developing individualized care plans in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, documenting assessment findings, and ensuring care plans are evidence-based and patient-focused.

Medication Administration and Management – You will administer medications and manage medication therapy by preparing and administering medications safely, verifying medication orders, following medication administration protocols, monitoring for adverse reactions, educating patients on medications, maintaining medication records, ensuring compliance with medication safety standards, and preventing medication errors.

Vital Signs Monitoring and Patient Observation – You will monitor vital signs and observe patients by measuring and recording vital signs (temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure, oxygen saturation), recognizing abnormal findings, identifying changes in patient condition, reporting concerns to physicians promptly, and ensuring continuous patient monitoring and surveillance.

Wound Care and Clinical Procedures – You will perform wound care and clinical procedures by assessing wounds, providing wound dressing and care, performing clinical procedures (catheter insertion, IV line management, specimen collection, NGT insertion), following infection prevention protocols, ensuring aseptic technique, and maintaining clinical competency in nursing procedures.

Infection Prevention and Control – You will implement infection prevention and control by adhering to infection control policies, following hand hygiene protocols, using personal protective equipment (PPE) appropriately, implementing isolation precautions, preventing healthcare-associated infections (HAIs), maintaining aseptic technique, and ensuring safe, hygienic patient care environments.

Team Leadership and Supervision – You will provide team leadership and supervision by leading nursing teams during shifts, delegating tasks appropriately, coordinating patient assignments, supervising junior nurses and nursing assistants, ensuring teamwork and collaboration, managing shift handovers, and maintaining high standards of nursing practice across the team.

Mentorship and Staff Development – You will mentor and develop nursing staff by providing guidance and support to junior nurses, conducting bedside teaching, facilitating learning opportunities, sharing clinical expertise, supporting professional development, conducting performance feedback, and building nursing team capabilities and competencies.

Documentation and Medical Records – You will maintain documentation and medical records by completing accurate, timely nursing documentation, recording patient assessments, care interventions, and outcomes, maintaining electronic health records (EHR), ensuring compliance with documentation standards, providing legally sound records, and supporting continuity of care through comprehensive documentation.

Patient and Family Education – You will provide patient and family education by assessing learning needs, developing education plans, teaching patients and families about diagnoses, treatments, medications, self-care, and discharge instructions, providing health promotion guidance, ensuring understanding through teach-back methods, and empowering patients to participate in their care.

Collaboration with Multidisciplinary Teams – You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams by coordinating with physicians, pharmacists, therapists, nutritionists, social workers, and other healthcare professionals, participating in multidisciplinary rounds, communicating patient information effectively, contributing to care planning, and ensuring integrated, patient-centered care delivery.

Emergency Response and Critical Care – You will respond to emergencies and provide critical care by recognizing deteriorating patients, initiating emergency protocols, performing basic and advanced life support (BLS/ACLS), coordinating code blue responses, providing critical care interventions, maintaining composure in emergencies, and ensuring rapid, effective emergency response.

Discharge Planning and Care Coordination – You will support discharge planning and care coordination by assessing discharge needs, coordinating with case managers and social workers, preparing discharge instructions, arranging follow-up appointments, coordinating home health services when needed, and ensuring safe, smooth patient transitions from hospital to home or other care settings.

Quality Improvement and Patient Safety – You will support quality improvement and patient safety by participating in quality improvement initiatives, monitoring patient safety indicators, identifying safety risks, reporting incidents and near misses, implementing patient safety protocols, contributing to continuous improvement, and promoting culture of safety and excellence.

Compliance and Regulatory Standards – You will ensure compliance with regulatory standards by adhering to DOH (Department of Health Abu Dhabi) regulations, JCI (Joint Commission International) standards when applicable, hospital policies and procedures, nursing practice standards, ethical guidelines, and maintaining professional conduct that meets healthcare regulatory and accreditation requirements.
