Role Overview – Woodlem Education is seeking an experienced HR Officer with prior school experience in the UAE to join our growing team. School HR Operations – You will manage day-to-day HR operations specific to educational institutions including teacher and staff recruitment, onboarding, and employee lifecycle management. Strong knowledge of school HR operations is essential, including understanding of academic calendars, teacher contracts, professional development requirements, and the unique aspects of managing both teaching and non-teaching staff in a school setting.
Recruitment and Onboarding – Coordinating the recruitment process for teaching and administrative positions, including posting job advertisements, screening applications, conducting initial interviews, and managing communication with candidates. Facilitating smooth onboarding processes for new hires, conducting orientation programs, and ensuring all joining formalities including visa processing, Emirates ID, and medical insurance are completed efficiently.
Employee Relations – Managing employee relations matters specific to school environments, addressing staff concerns, resolving workplace conflicts, and maintaining positive relationships between administration, teachers, and support staff. Acting as a liaison between management and employees to ensure open communication and addressing grievances in accordance with school policies and UAE labor regulations.
UAE Labor Law Compliance – Good understanding of UAE labour laws and practices is mandatory for this role. Ensuring all HR practices comply with UAE Labor Law, Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MOHRE) regulations, and education-specific regulations. Managing visa and work permit processes, labor card renewals, and ensuring compliance with employment contract requirements as per UAE regulations.
Leave and Attendance Management – Managing teacher and staff leave requests, tracking attendance, maintaining leave records, and ensuring adequate coverage for classes when teachers are absent. Understanding school-specific leave policies including term breaks, summer holidays, and professional development leave that differ from standard corporate environments.
Performance Management – Supporting the implementation of performance appraisal systems for teaching and non-teaching staff. Coordinating teacher evaluations, classroom observations, and performance review meetings. Maintaining performance records and supporting professional development planning based on appraisal outcomes.
HR Documentation – Maintaining comprehensive HR records including employee files, contracts, visa documents, certificates, and other employment-related documentation. Preparing HR reports, managing HRIS systems, and ensuring all documentation is organized and compliant with UAE regulations and school audit requirements.
Training and Development – Coordinating professional development programs, teacher training workshops, and continuing education opportunities for staff. Managing training budgets, scheduling sessions, and maintaining training records as required by educational authorities and school accreditation bodies.
Compensation and Benefits – Assisting in payroll processing, managing salary structures, and administering employee benefits including health insurance, gratuity calculations, and end-of-service benefits in accordance with UAE labor law. Understanding education sector compensation packages including housing allowances, tuition fee waivers for dependents, and flight tickets.
