Job Description
Job Overview: The Foreman – Carpenter will be responsible for supervising and managing all carpentry-related works on construction sites, ensuring tasks are executed accurately, safely, and according to approved design drawings. This role demands a strong technical background in formwork, shuttering, finishing carpentry, and joinery operations. The ideal candidate should have proven experience in high-rise, infrastructure, or commercial projects, along with the ability to manage a diverse team of carpenters and helpers effectively.
Key Responsibilities: The position involves overseeing the preparation, installation, and assembly of all wooden frameworks and structures used in construction. The foreman will assign daily duties to carpentry teams, inspect work progress, and ensure compliance with safety and quality standards. Additional responsibilities include verifying measurements, ensuring the correct use of tools and materials, and coordinating with the site engineer to plan upcoming work sequences and resource requirements.
Project Supervision: The Foreman – Carpenter will monitor all site carpentry activities such as formwork fabrication, installation of door and window frames, ceiling works, and furniture fitting as per approved shop drawings. The candidate will be required to inspect completed tasks, maintain progress reports, and ensure that work is completed within project timelines. This role requires close coordination with other trade supervisors to ensure proper sequencing of works and minimal rework on site.
Health, Safety & Environment Compliance: Upholding workplace safety is essential. The foreman will ensure that all carpentry teams follow company HSE policies, wear appropriate PPE, and maintain a clean and hazard-free work environment. Daily toolbox talks must be conducted, and unsafe practices should be reported and corrected immediately. A strong understanding of UAE labor and safety standards is crucial to maintain a safe, compliant, and efficient construction site.
Quality Assurance and Reporting: Quality craftsmanship is at the heart of this role. The Foreman – Carpenter must ensure that all carpentry works meet required standards for precision, finish, and durability. The candidate will maintain accurate daily site reports, monitor material usage, and promptly highlight any discrepancies in drawings or materials to the project engineer. A proactive approach to problem-solving and quality control is expected to prevent delays or rework.
Leadership & Team Coordination: This position requires strong leadership and communication skills to manage carpenters and helpers effectively. The foreman must motivate the team, ensure productivity targets are met, and maintain harmony on site.
