Job Description

Role Overview – Merali's is hiring an Audit Manager for a full-time, on-site role based in Abu Dhabi, UAE. This position is ideal for experienced audit professionals with strong technical auditing expertise, leadership capabilities, and the ability to manage audit engagements, lead teams, and deliver high-quality audit services across diverse clients and industries within a professional services or audit firm environment.

Audit Engagement Management – You will manage audit engagements from planning through completion by understanding client businesses, assessing risk, developing audit strategies, allocating resources, monitoring progress, and ensuring audit deliverables are completed on time, within budget, and in accordance with auditing standards (ISA, IAS).

Team Leadership and Supervision – You will lead and supervise audit teams by assigning tasks, providing guidance and mentorship, conducting performance reviews, developing team members' technical skills, and ensuring all team members deliver quality work and adhere to professional standards.

Audit Planning and Risk Assessment – You will conduct audit planning and risk assessment by analyzing client financial statements, identifying key risks and material areas, determining audit scope and approach, designing audit procedures, and ensuring audit plans effectively address identified risks and compliance requirements.

Fieldwork and Audit Execution – You will oversee audit fieldwork and execution by supervising testing of controls, substantive procedures, and analytical reviews, coordinating with clients for information requests, reviewing audit working papers, and ensuring audit evidence is sufficient, appropriate, and properly documented.

Financial Statement Review and Reporting – You will review financial statements and audit reports by analyzing financial data, assessing compliance with IFRS/IAS, evaluating accounting treatments, preparing audit opinions, drafting management letters, and communicating audit findings and recommendations to clients and senior management.

Internal Controls and Compliance Review – You will evaluate internal controls and compliance by testing control environments, identifying control weaknesses, assessing operational and financial risks, and providing recommendations to strengthen governance, risk management, and internal control systems.

Client Relationship Management – You will manage client relationships by serving as the primary point of contact for audit engagements, communicating audit progress and findings, addressing client concerns, providing technical accounting and audit guidance, and building trusted, long-term client partnerships.

Quality Control and Assurance – You will ensure quality control and assurance by reviewing audit working papers, ensuring compliance with International Standards on Auditing (ISA), implementing firm quality procedures, conducting file reviews, and maintaining the highest standards of audit quality and professional ethics.

Regulatory and Statutory Compliance – You will ensure regulatory and statutory compliance by maintaining knowledge of UAE commercial law, Federal Tax Authority (FTA) requirements, IFRS/IAS updates, and industry-specific regulations, and by ensuring audit engagements meet all legal and regulatory obligations.

Business Advisory and Value-Added Services – You will provide business advisory and value-added services by identifying improvement opportunities, advising clients on accounting policies, financial reporting, internal controls, and operational efficiency, and positioning audit insights to support client business objectives.

Audit Documentation and File Management – You will oversee audit documentation and file management by ensuring all audit working papers are complete, organized, reviewed, and archived in accordance with professional standards and firm policies, and by maintaining audit files that are audit-ready and compliant.

Training and Knowledge Sharing – You will provide training and knowledge sharing by conducting technical training sessions, mentoring junior auditors, sharing industry insights, and promoting continuous learning and professional development within the audit team.

Reporting to Partners and Senior Management – You will report to partners and senior management by providing updates on engagement status, highlighting technical issues, discussing significant audit matters, presenting financial results, and contributing to strategic decisions regarding client service and firm operations.

Audit Manager Experience (Mandatory) – Proven experience as an Audit Manager, Senior Auditor, Audit Supervisor, or in a similar senior audit role is mandatory. Your background should demonstrate the ability to manage audit engagements, lead teams, and deliver high-quality audit services across multiple clients.
