Job Description

Support Cost Control on Major Construction Projects

Omnium International is hiring an Assistant Cost Manager in Abu Dhabi to support project cost management, budget tracking, and financial reporting across construction and engineering projects.

Conduct Quantity Surveying and Measurements

You'll perform quantity take-offs from drawings, measure completed work, verify contractor measurements, prepare bills of quantities, check contractor payment applications, ensure accurate measurements, prevent over-measurement or payment errors, and maintain measurement documentation.

Review and Approve Payment Applications

You'll evaluate contractor and supplier payment claims, verify work completed against payment requests, check calculations and rates, ensure contract compliance, approve legitimate payments, reject unjustified claims, coordinate with project managers on payment recommendations, and protect project budgets from improper payments.

Manage Procurement and Contract Administration

You'll support procurement processes, review contracts for cost implications, administer cost aspects of contracts, track contract commitments, monitor contractor performance against pricing, manage retention schedules, process final accounts, and ensure contractual cost obligations are met.

Prepare Cost Reports and Dashboards

You'll produce monthly cost reports, budget versus actual analysis, variance explanations, cash flow forecasts, committed cost summaries, change order logs, cost trends, and executive dashboards that provide clear financial visibility to stakeholders.

Coordinate with Project Teams

You'll work closely with project managers, engineers, procurement, contracts, finance, and site teams to gather cost information, align on budget matters, support decision-making with cost analysis, resolve cost-related issues, and integrate cost management with overall project execution.

What You'll Do

  • Assist with project budget preparation and cost tracking
  • Monitor actual costs against budgets and identify variances
  • Prepare cost reports, forecasts, and variance analyses
  • Support quantity surveying and measurement activities
  • Review contractor payment applications and invoices
  • Track change orders and their financial impact
  • Maintain cost databases and documentation
  • Coordinate with project teams on cost information
  • Help prepare cash flow projections
  • Support senior cost managers with cost analysis

What You Need

  • 2-4 years in cost management, quantity surveying, or estimation
  • Experience in construction or engineering projects
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills
  • Proficiency with Excel and cost management software
  • Understanding of construction contracts and processes
  • Attention to detail and accuracy
  • Good communication and coordination abilities
  • Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Engineering, or related field
  • UAE experience preferred
