Job Description

Role Overview – Madocsa Logistics is hiring an Accountant for a full-time, on-site role based in Dubai, UAE. This position is ideal for detail-oriented accounting professionals with strong technical accounting skills, financial reporting capabilities, and experience managing financial transactions, compliance, and record-keeping within a logistics, freight forwarding, or supply chain environment.

General Ledger and Financial Transactions – You will manage the general ledger by recording and posting financial transactions, maintaining the chart of accounts, preparing journal entries, reconciling accounts, and ensuring all financial data is accurate, complete, and compliant with IFRS and UAE accounting standards.

Accounts Payable and Receivable Management – You will manage accounts payable and receivables by processing supplier invoices for freight charges, transportation costs, and services, verifying payment accuracy, tracking customer payments and shipment billing, managing aging reports, following up on outstanding receivables, coordinating with operations teams on billing, and ensuring timely settlement of all financial obligations.

Bank Reconciliation and Cash Management – You will perform regular bank reconciliations by matching bank statements with company records, investigating discrepancies, resolving variances, monitoring cash flow, and ensuring accurate tracking of all banking transactions across company accounts.

Financial Reporting and Analysis – You will prepare financial reports including monthly, quarterly, and annual statements by consolidating financial data, analyzing variances, identifying trends, and providing insights on financial performance to support management decision-making.

Month-End and Year-End Close – You will manage month-end and year-end closing processes by ensuring all transactions are recorded, preparing accruals and adjustments, reconciling balance sheet accounts, closing accounting periods, and meeting reporting deadlines in accordance with company financial calendars.

VAT and Tax Compliance – You will handle UAE VAT and tax compliance by maintaining VAT records, preparing VAT returns, ensuring invoices comply with Federal Tax Authority (FTA) regulations, coordinating with tax consultants, and supporting the company during tax audits or government inspections.

Freight and Logistics Cost Accounting – You will manage freight and logistics cost accounting by tracking shipment costs, allocating expenses to specific jobs or customers, monitoring freight expenses, analyzing transportation costs, and ensuring accurate cost accounting for air freight, sea freight, land transport, customs, and warehousing services.

Revenue Recognition and Billing – You will support revenue recognition and billing by coordinating with operations on shipment completion, preparing customer invoices, ensuring accurate billing for freight services, managing revenue accounting in accordance with shipping and logistics industry practices, and ensuring timely revenue recognition.

Budgeting and Cost Control Support – You will support budgeting and cost control initiatives by monitoring departmental expenses, comparing actual performance against budgets, analyzing cost variances, and providing financial insights to support cost management and financial planning.

Payroll Support and Employee Expenses – You will support payroll processing and employee expense management by verifying payroll data, coordinating with HR on salary processing, managing employee reimbursements, and ensuring accurate and timely payment of salaries and benefits.

Fixed Assets and Depreciation Management – You will manage fixed assets and depreciation by maintaining fixed asset registers, calculating depreciation, recording asset acquisitions and disposals, and ensuring accurate fixed asset accounting in line with company policies and accounting standards.

Audit Coordination and Compliance – You will coordinate with external auditors by preparing required documentation, responding to audit queries, facilitating audit processes, implementing audit recommendations, and ensuring compliance with financial regulations and internal controls.

Vendor and Supplier Coordination – You will coordinate with vendors and suppliers by processing invoices for freight services, shipping lines, airlines, trucking companies, customs brokers, and other logistics service providers, verifying charges against contracts and quotes, and maintaining positive relationships with service partners.

ERP and Accounting Software Management – You will use ERP and accounting software systems to record transactions, generate financial reports, maintain financial data, track logistics costs, and ensure all systems are updated accurately and efficiently to support financial operations and reporting.
